Definitions

What does a Deacon do?

The office of Deacon is one of sympathy and service. They minister to those in need, to the sick, the friendless, and anyone in distress.

What does an Elder do?

An Elder is responsible for the leadership, government, discipline, and mission of the church. Specific areas of responsibilities are assigned to the committees under the direction of an active Elder.

Spiritual Life & Worship Committee

This mission team committee is responsible for the spiritual life of the congregation. It is involved with all worship and special services.

This mission team committee is responsible for all Adult Christian education.

This mission team committee is involved with the care and maintenance of the physical properties of the church and finances of it's operation.

This mission team committee is responsible for inviting guests to small groups, to integrate guests into the life of the church, and to prepare our guests for membership.

This mission team committee has the responsibility of providing support for the local church and it's benevolences, locally and worldwide. They coordinate the stewardship campaign as well as various special offerings throughout the year.

This mission team committee oversees the program and operation of First Presbyterian Pre-School.

This mission team committee is responsible for the selection and securing of members to be nominated for the boards and committees of the congregation.

This mission team committee is to provide a bridge of communication and support between the staff, Session, and the congregation.

This mission team committee shall have the oversight of all endowments and trust funds belonging to this Church and its various organizations and agencies and shall invest, reinvest, sell, assign and transfer, possess and control all such funds and securities as agents and trustees of this Church and its several organizations subject to the oversight of Session.

This mission team committee is responsible for all Children's Christian education. This runs from the crib room all the way up to the adult church school.
