In the fall of 2007, the Session acted to change the Adult
Christian Education Committee to the Christian Life Committee, with the
charge of providing spiritual growth opportunities for youth (junior and
senior high school) and adults.
Christian growth is a high priority. We believe that the
study of Christian scripture is not an option, but essential for individual
and church maturity in Christ. We believe that the Christian scripture is
God’s inspired word, the authoritative and trustworthy rule of faith and
practice for Christians. The Bible is relevant to the needs of all people,
to the specific challenges of contemporary living. We are committed to
equipping Christians, through discipleship and spiritual formation, to
follow Christ in every aspect of life.
This mission team has three sub-divisions. Youth and Adult
Christian Education encompasses Sunday morning classes and mid-week classes,
promotion of family Bible time, and small groups. Stewardship of Time and
Talents seeks to involve members in the life of the church, encourages
stewardship of time and talents, and encourages hands-on mission projects.
Advertising will cover all aspects of church life.
Members included Mary Beth Wright, Duane Getz, Ben Atkins,
Jessica Farrar, and Denise Conrad (staff support).
GOALS FOR 2008:
1. We will develop a yearly calendar system with Adult
Education classes to run from January through March, April through June, and
September through December, and work toward finding at least two new
teachers for these classes.
2. We will implement a membership attendance and church life
involvement system and work in collaboration with the Deacons and church
staff to track church attendance and contact members.
3. We will create and implement a system to monitor small
group involvement and topics studied and generate a list of recommended
small group topics.
4. We will develop a 5-year hands-on mission plan for the church.
