To provide an inclusive, dynamic preschool program
designed to help children learn and develop in all areas, emphasizing
spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth. The children
will be encouraged to explore God’s world through the multi-sensory
learning experience, using a developmental approach.
The preschool enrollment as of December 31, 2007 was 106
students. With only five of these students being family members of our
congregation, the preschool continues to be a vibrant Christian outreach
for our church in this community.
The Preschool Mission Team approved distribution of five
scholarships made possible by money allocated from the Stewardship and
Benevolence Mission Team. In addition, our mission team received
recommendations from the Director and approved salary increases for the
preschool staff and approved the budget for the 2007-08 school year.
The mission team interacted with the preschool parents as
church representatives and provided and served refreshments for parent
orientation, Mommy and Me Night, and Dad’s Night.
Under the guidance and supervision of Director Wendy
Walters and Curriculum Coordinator Brenda Shone, a new curriculum was
approved and implemented to maintain high standards of academic excellence
and to continue to meet the standards of the Ohio Department of Education,
another five-day classroom was instituted, and a reading program for the
students was introduced and approved by the Preschool Mission Team.
Our team approved several fund raisers, which are an
important part of keeping the program viable and alive. Along with the
preschool staff, our team continues to look at ways to cut costs, while
still maintaining the existing, exemplary program of First Presbyterian
Preschool.
We are thankful for each child and family in our preschool
and want to thank the congregation for your continued love and support.
Continue to pray for us. We are blessed through your prayers and support
and thank God for each of you.
