Purpose
First
Presbyterian Pre-School has been in operation since the fall of 1985. The
purpose of the pre-school is to provide a Christian
atmosphere in which children will be encouraged to explore God's world
through a multi-sensory learning experience, using a developmental
approach.
|
|
Staff
- The
pre-school is staffed by teachers and classroom assistants. Teachers
in the program should have a two-year associate degree, a CDA
(Child Development Associate) Credential or equivalent experience.
They are required to have appropriate experience in working with
preschool children.
|
|
Class Size
- The
adult-child ratio will be a maximum of 1:10 with classes containing up
to 20 children. The school is licensed to legally operate and service
79 pre-school and 25 school age children per day.
|
|
Curriculum
- The
curriculum will be a structured, well-planned program that is flexible
enough to accommodate the individual needs of the child through the
unique style of the teacher. Goals will be enhanced through a variety
of interest centers to provide child-centered, age
appropriate activities, as well as thematic units that offer content
learning interrelated with the activities.
- The
curriculum will emphasize the following areas:
-
-
Spiritual
Development
-
To develop an appreciation of and
response to God's love for them.

and toileting.
|
 |
|
Emotional
Development
-
To foster positive self-regard
